last year in September I joined a video contest about Nova Scotia and have won the great prize. And in just a few weeks from now my wife Nicole and me, will start our “Nova Scotia Dream Vacation”. Currently we are on the final planning’s. The first drafts were already made last year as we found the proper time for our journey.
A new experience for us to plan the whole trip in advance, commonly we just book the flights, rent a car and make a reservation for accommodation for the first nights. Afterwards we will see where we end up and at any place where we feel comfortable we will stay for a while.

Our first day in Iceland (Wed., 14th July)
While in Germany we had 33 °C and more, in Iceland there were enjoyable 22 °C so we took a time out from the heat. Those days in Iceland the sun raises already at about 3am and sets down at 23pm in between there is just twilight. We experienced that we get out of sync in regards to any sense of time because it is not really getting dark. For the first three days we hired a car and started on the first day with the “Golden Circle”. Pickup of the car was at 10am in downtown Reykjavík. At late noon we start of for our first journey.
Skyline is the most popular trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, which features an extensive boardwalk system that protects the natural terrain.
The nearly 10 km hiking path (loop, the maintained oneway is a bit shorter) leads to a look-off that offers one of the most spectacular ocean views in North America. From the end of this trail, you can look down on the majestic mountain forests of the Cabot Trail winding toward the sea or turn your head and catch a glimpse of whales playing in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.
